DVD marathon update

i did five discs yesterday. will do full write-ups later, but just a summary here

The Poseidon Adventure (1972) Two-Disc Special Edition
  • if you're a fan of the original film (and i am), this is a must-have (i can only afford to borrow it from the library)
  • the second disc features the AMC Backstory episode and many of the cast members and both singers of the Oscar-winning song
  • four stars

Sullivan's Travels (1941)
  • my first Preston Sturges film
  • awesome b/c it deals with poverty, but is a light comedy, so oddly you don't feel depressed about the main theme
  • four-and-a-half stars

Blade (1998)
  • wanted to like the film, but just couldn't
  • the concept they had for the DVD was great but implementation was awful
  • two-and-a-half stars
Borat (2006)
  • i still think that the Academy overlooked Sacha Baron-Cohen, because he made it look too easy
  • the movie was very good, the DVD is better!
  • three-and-a-half stars for the movie, four-and-a-half for the DVD
